Trombonist Jules Estrin has appeared with many internationally renowned entertainers and musicians including: Clark Terry, Paul Anka, Franki Valli and the Four Seasons, Don Menza, Rob McConnell, Moe Koffman, Matt Dusk, Jackie Richardson, John Stech, Kenny Wheeler, Denzil Sincaire, Ralph Bowen and PJ Perry.

Jules has performed internationally in France, Ireland, Scotland, England and the United States and at jazz festivals across Canada including: Toronto, Montreal, Markham, Brantford, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Oakville and Regina. 

Jules served as the Musical Director of the Hart House Jazz Ensemble at the University of Toronto for several years. Under his direction the group released their first recording Takin’ A Chance On Love.

In his ninth year as Musical Director of the JAZZ.FM91 Youth Big Band the group has performed with legendary jazz artists Randy Brecker, Bucky Pizzarelli, Lew Tabackin, Tom Scott, Wycliffe Gordon and Joey DeFranceso.  In September 2011 the JAZZFM Youth Big Band opened for Al Jarreau at the Brantford International Jazz Festival.  The group has also appeared with many Canadian artists including: Guido Basso, PJ Perry, Alex Dean, Kelly Jefferson, Al Kay, Brian O’Kane, Shirantha Beddage, Ron Westray and Sundar Viswanathan.

The JAZZ.FM91 group has also shared the stage with The Next Generation Jazz Ensemble (Monterey, CA), McGill Jazz Ensemble (Montreal, PQ), Thelma Yellin School of the Arts (Tel Aviv, Israel), University of Toronto Jazz Orchestra, York University Jazz Orchestra and will be returning to perform at the Xerox Rochester Jazz Festival in Rochester, New York in June 2014.

As Artistic Director and Program Coordinator- of the Kincardine Summer Music Festival (Jazz) from 2010-2015 Jules worked with a faculty that included: Brian O’Kane (trumpet), Kelly Jefferson (saxophone), Ted Warren (drums), Mike Rud (guitar), Earl MacDonald (piano) and Mike Downes (bass).  The Kincardine Jazz concert series hosted: Ralph Bowen, Denzal Sinclaire, Heather Bambrick, The Heavy Weights Brass Band and Sophia Perlman among others.

A graduate of McGill University, Mr. Estrin completed his Master’s degree at the University of Toronto while serving as director of the 7 o’clock Jazz Ensemble.
